Book Review: Remarkably Bright Creatures
A Two-Minute Book Review
Remarkably Bright Creatures by Shelby Van Pelt
Color me charmed. I adored this sweet debut about a widow, a grifter, and an octopus. It was sweetly sad but quietly hopeful. There were beautiful friendships (one that crossed species), bittersweet memories, and a dedication to “if a thing’s worth doing, it’s worth doing well.”
I loved every word. Though I shouldn’t have listened to the ending while driving.
The audio was exceptional. Marin Ireland rocked two genders and a Scot! And Michael Urie as Marcellus (the octopus, a major character) was dry, witty, and delightfully urbane. (Fun Fact: Urie previously recorded LILY AND THE OCTOPUS.)
Read this if you want to feel good about the people (and aquatic life) around you. I smiled the whole dang time.
I read this Audiobook as a library loan from my library via the Libby app.
